Miss New Hampshire 2014 Megan Cooley Hits the Slopes with Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center’s Accessible Recreation and Sports Program

Miss NH School

Greenfield, NH – Miss New Hampshire 2014 Megan Cooley, whose platform is “Championing Abilities,” recently visited with students, clients, and staff at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield, N.H. While there, she skied with three participants during their adaptive ski lessons with the Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Accessible Recreation and Sports (CMARS) program.

“It was great to spend the day at Crotched Mountain and see first-hand its dedication to serving children and adults of all abilities,” said Miss New Hampshire Megan Cooley. “From sitting in the classroom with students to tethering an adaptive skier down the mountain, I enjoyed participating in the many activities available to Crotched Mountain’s clients. People are commonly defined by their disabilities, and my visit strengthened my belief that it’s essential for all of us to see people for their abilities.”

In her platform, “Championing Abilities,” Miss New Hampshire has made a commitment to raising awareness about people with disabilities. Prior to skiing with CMARS participants, Miss New Hampshire spent the morning and had lunch with students at the Crotched Mountain School and visited with patients at the Crotched Mountain Specialty Hospital.

Miss New Hampshire will be singing the National Anthem at the fifth consecutive Bruins Alumni Classic on Sunday, Feb. 8 at Saint Anselm College in Manchester to benefit the CMARS programs. Tickets are still available for the event. To purchase, contact Jeannette Nieder, 603.547.1486 or Jeannette.Nieder@crotchedmountain.org for more information, or purchase tickets online at http://www.cmf.org/tickets/
