A Special Month Worthy of Celebration!

Did you know? In 1987, President Ronald Reagan designated the month of March as National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

So, what exactly does the term “developmental disability” mean? Traditionally, it refers to impairments in learning and behavior (e.g., autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) and impairments in physical and/or intellectual functioning (e.g., cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and Down syndrome).

National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month seeks to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life – while also educating others about the difficulties many people with disabilities still face in fitting into the communities in which they live.

When you support the mission of Crotched Mountain Foundation you are making that inclusion and community participation real! Thank you!
