Well-known advocate first person with a disability to serve as Board chair
MANCHESTER, NH – Crotched Mountain Foundation is pleased to announce the election of James (Jim) C. Piet as the Chair of Crotched Mountain’s Board of Directors. Jim steps into the Chair role after the three year term of Henry Veilleux ended in September. A 16-year Board member and one-time student of Crotched Mountain School in Greenfield, Jim is the first person with a disability to serve as Board Chair.
“This is a wonderful milestone in Crotched Mountain’s 100-year-old history,” said Ned Olney, President and CEO of Crotched Mountain Foundation. “There are few advocates for people with disabilities as respected, committed, and appreciated as Jim Piet. For years, he has provided a critical voice and perspective on our Board, and as Chair he will assume a leadership position that will make our organization stronger. In this critical new era of CMF programs, Jim’s leadership is especially important as we serve ever more adults and children with disabilities.”
Following his graduation from Crotched Mountain School, Piet earned his M.S. degree and currently serves as the Public Relations Specialist with the New Hampshire Department of Education and Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation. He volunteers and supports many disability-related initiatives.
“I joined Crotched Mountain’s Board of Directors to give back and to help the next generation of students with disabilities reach their own potential,” he says. “I am proud to serve as Chair for this exciting new chapter in the history of Crotched Mountain Foundation as we work with our community partners and donors to make a difference in the lives of people with unique needs throughout New Hampshire.”
