Memorial Garden

A place to rest, remember, and celebrate.

The Memorial Garden on Crotched Mountain provides an expansive outdoor gathering space for memorial services with a smaller, more intimate grotto for quiet contemplation.

Located near the scenic entrance to our award-winning accessible trails, the Memorial Garden is designed to allow gatherers to lovingly celebrate, honor or memorialize family and friends while being rejuvenated by the beauty and bounty of our surrounding countryside.

The Memorial Garden and nearby accessible trails are designed so that everyone – hikers, people in wheelchairs, seniors and families with children – can experience the peace and serenity of our mountainside vistas, valleys, and more.

In 2014, renowned landscape architect Joseph E. Thompson translated our vision for a Memorial Garden into a beautiful contemplative and accessible space to be enjoyed by all. Construction in 2015 included the creation of a hand-crafted, commanding boundary wall by employee and master stonemason Frank Whitney.

Inspiration for the Memorial Garden was the 2013 dedication of a plaque memorializing Brandon Mills, an outdoor enthusiast and family friend of a Crotched Mountain Trustee.
