Thompson Fund Awards Grant to Crotched Mountain Foundation, CMCC

Crotched Mountain Foundation received a $10,000 grant from The Roger R. and Theresa S. Thompson Endowment Fund to strengthen the work of Crotched Mountain Community Care (CMCC). The funding will be used to support emergency and basic needs for CMCC clients, to help them remain independent in their own communities.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generous support of The Thompson Fund,” says Kara Nickulas, Executive Director of Adult Programs. “The funding is critical for our case managers, as it allows them to meet the immediate needs of the people we serve, which can make all the difference.”

“The Roger R. and Theresa S. Thompson Endowment Fund Trustees are pleased to recognize the work of the six Thompson Fund beneficiaries by awarding this year’s grants,” said Thompson Fund Managing Trustee Charles B. Doleac. “Since 2015, the Thompson Fund has awarded close to $1 million to the six beneficiaries, ensuring that the legacy the Thompsons intended — of leading by individual, directed philanthropic example — is sustained. Theresa Thompson chose the specific framework of the Fund because she believed it was critical to have Trustees who maintained local control of a fund benefitting local organizations and could foster an environment that trained future trustees for the fund, the beneficiaries and the community to make a local impact.”

CMCC is one of New Hampshire’s largest independent case management providers, serving over 800 Granite State residents. CMCC case managers work with adults who qualify for the Medicaid CFI waiver, coordinating supports and services that help them stay independent and out of nursing homes. Learn more at cmf.org/cmcc.

About The Roger R. and Theresa S. Thompson Endowment Fund
Theresa Thompson established the endowment fund in memory of her husband Roger, to make a difference in the local community by rewarding six specific educational and charitable organizations whose work was having a positive local impact on the Seacoast communities of NH and Maine. It was important to her to retain local administration of the grants so that there was a direct connection between the Trustees and the organizations she believed were the best able to create a lasting legacy in the names of Roger R. and Theresa S. Thompson. Although the six organizations named in the Fund are set, the Trustees determine each one’s eligibility for grants on an annual basis, reviewing not only their proposals but their achievements working with previous grant funds.
